Pray… The heavens forever tell of Your glory and their expanse forever declares the work of Your hands, O God! Day to day, your eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen through what You have made. Night to night knowledge is revealed to us, and so we stand without excuse. Though Your creation does not speak, and its voice is not heard, its message has gone out to the ends of the earth. In the heavens You have placed a tent for the sun, moon, and stars. They all follow Your designed paths and perfectly accomplish all You give them to do.

And Your law, O God, is like Your creation: so perfect in every way, restoring the soul. Your testimony is sure, making wise the simple. Your precepts are right, causing the heart to rejoice, and Your commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of You is pure, the beginning of knowledge and wisdom, and it endures forever. Your judgments are true and so righteous altogether! In understanding Your laws and keeping Your commands there is great reward. They are more desirable than gold—yes, than much fine gold. They are sweeter than the drippings of the honeycomb, and together they lead, encourage, admonish, and sustain Your servants. Who can discern his own errors, for You alone know the heart? But Your Word is like a double-edged sword, able to judge the thoughts and intentions of our hearts. Forgive me therefore my hidden faults, Lord Jesus, and keep me from sins of will and arrogance. Though at times I do the very things I hate, don’t let the sin in my members define me, for there is no condemnation for those who place their trust in You. Grant me repentance, redemption through Your blood, and the forgiveness of my sin through the riches of Your grace. Then I shall be blameless, standing acquitted of all transgression both small and great. Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord. You are my rock and my redeemer!

ConsiderBut you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. What is our response to a God who has revived our souls, given our simple minds great wisdom and our hearts great joy? It would be a tragedy to think He would equip us so without giving us a vision for His kingdom work and a glorious mission to accomplish it! He has given us gifts and inspiration to accomplish our various missions in life. They call us to employ every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift for the evangelism of the lost and the discipling of the saved. Jesus does not save and then fail to gift. As we let His pure commands radiate through our lives, they will make us His servants and witnesses. The words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts will be acceptable to the One who has made us all that we are, and given us more than we ever deserved. Anyone who has used His precious gifts by stepping out into the fields of mission will testify using them to minister to those He desires to love through us is indeed where we find our greatest reward!
