Pray… Fill my heart with thanksgiving, O Lord. Let me boldly proclaim the wonders of Your gospel and kingdom! Fill me with gladness, that I might exult in You and sing praises to the name of my most high God! You defeat my enemy, he stumbles, and his plans are revealed as I walk in Your Spirit. You grant, and then maintain, a holy purpose for me, and Your Son lives to make intercession for me. From Your throne You judge righteously: rebuking mighty nations, subduing the unrighteous and keeping them under punishment for the day of judgment. You uproot peoples and nations, causing the very memory of them to perish. The enemy will one day be cast out and His destruction will be made final. But You, Lord Jesus, will reign forever! You have established Your throne for mercy and judgment, and You will judge the world in righteousness. You will bring justice to all as You weigh truth upon balanced scales. You will be a stronghold for the oppressed, yes, their very present help in times of trouble. Those who call upon Your name will put their trust in You and You will never forsake those who seek You in spirit and in truth. Sing praises to the Lord, O my soul, and declare His kingdom to His people, for the One who seeks your sacrifice remembers.

Be gracious to me, Lord Jesus, as You behold the attacks of the evil one who hates me, for You never forget the cry of the afflicted. You alone lift me up from the gates of death to sing Your praises, that in the fellowship of the saints I might arise to rejoice in Your salvation! Nations sink down into the pits they have made—into the shadows of deception they cloak themselves in. But You catch them by the foot, making Your presence known by bringing Your righteous judgments to bear upon them. You snare the wicked in the work of their own hands, returning them to the depths along with all who refuse to confess Your name. The needy will not always be forgotten, nor shall the hope of the afflicted perish forever. Arise, O Lord! Do not let godlessness prevail! Bring the nations forth to be judged! Lead them to fear, O God, and show them they are but mere mortals.

Consider [The Prince of Peace will sit] on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness, from then on and forevermore. Those who live in and for the kingdom of heaven on earth, unlike those who live for the kingdom of man, never know a moment of injustice, for their government rests upon the shoulders of the Prince of Peace and the God of justice. Injustice simply never has, nor does it now, exist in God’s kingdom while it has always, and does now, ravage man’s kingdom. This is an easy tell as to whether Christians have a kingdom perspective or a worldly one: do they allow the powers, politics, and injustices of the world steal their peace? If anything the world throws at you can rob you of the everlasting peace that is the kingdom, it is time to admit you are not in His kingdom and “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”
